A few months ago I heard that an airline, as far as I remember it was EasyJet, was moving to the next stage of development of an electric engine. This means that the company is on track to have electric planes on at least some of its routes.
First I was enthusiastic to hear that we will be able to travel on environmentally friendly, lower-noise aircraft. We can also foresee a future that is not exclusively dependent on jet fuel, which means that the planes would also be cheaper to operate.
However, now I have second thoughts. Who would fly in a battery power aircraft? I myself would be scared to do so. Even if electric aircraft have their advantages, this new development would only compensate for the projected growth in aviation.
